I'm a SDE at Amazon India and looking to move to Canada. Which companies should I apply for, that provide work visa ?

Which companies in Canada provide visa for people working in India currently?

Husband works in the US. US visa is harder/longer to get, hence looking for Canada. Don't want to move on dependent visa .

Why don't you move to Amazon in Canada ?

Amazon OhKq84 OP Nov 5, 2018

Amazon has some visa restrictions. You need to be working in same level for a year before changing country

Microsoft metang Nov 5, 2018

Even with that restriction, internal transfer would be the fastest way most likely.

Do they sponsor visa if not currently in US/Canada? Which is the best way to apply: referral or reach out to recruiters on LinkedIn

Amazon might exempt you from the rules if you tell your leadership about your family situation. I know msft relaxes the mandatory criteria for international transfer .

Microsoft metang Nov 6, 2018

Can confirm MSFT does relax rules in some cases where the family is involved

Wait for a year and transfer internally through amazon.Be clear why you want to move though. Most of the high level Indian tech jobs pay equal to Canadian companies with better purchasing power. However if your looking at quality of life, safety and a reasonable pollution free society to live in Canada is Great. But if you are optimizing just for $$$ you will be disappointed most likely.Canada is not the US. Also most Canadian companies will not do a work visa-Similar to Australia you will have to get a PR and then job hunt.
