On top of tech layoffs and competitions, there’s also concern of US dollar being challenged, and more conservative political atmosphere where immigrants can become less welcomed. I’ve heard coworkers from India and China are moving back home as pay is actually similar now, and career growth can be better as a citizen, plus close to family. Are you considering going back to your home country or another country? #meta #apple
Not until somewhere else pays me $550k a year to work 35 hour weeks.
"this is me being cute"
And go where?
Pay from India and China are similar to the US? Really?
No it’s our country now. Why’d we leave?
Career growth in China can be better than in the valley? Is it true?
Heard so. It does make sense to me as they are no longer on temporary and employer sponsored visa, and no race discrimination.
Most Indians won't leave, which is clearly reflected in the green card priority dates. On the other hand, lots of Chinese have moved back in the 2010s (also reflected in the GC priority dates). I for one am planning to move back in the next few years (I'm an Indian citizen) once I have enough savings to potentially FIRE or work minimally out of boredom, not necessity.
It makes sense that Chinese move back. That country will be the new ruler of the world sooner rather than later (I’m not Chinese).
@zLMH20 I'm going to bet against China overtaking the US. The US will decline slowly and China has it's own issues it needs to deal with (can't produce sufficient food, few input resources, housing bubble, provincial debt, aging population, general negativity from the ROW etc.)
Nobody is leaving. Even if they leave, equal or more people will come in
Truth, unfortunately.
In tech industry? I doubt it, given hiring reduction. Other type of immigrants might be.
Even during this time, US is far better then my country for opportunity

Any Indians Think Kashmir Should be Independent?
Lol they won’t leave
With the recent H1B lottery chances and GC backlog, immigrants from some countries probably won't have a choice but to leave.
Why you say they won’t leave? Like implying America is some sort of Eldorado? I went to America because of a job opportunity but I couldn’t wait to leave. I stayed for a few years then got out as soon as I could career wise. I love Americans, they’re good people. But I hated the capitalistic nightmare and no rights workplace that it is. I’m actually happier now that I’m out. I’m rooting for Americans, I have many good friends there. But that country has problems so big that I don’t know if they’ll be able to overcome them anytime soon. I really hope I’m wrong cause they’re good people that have been dealt a bad hand.
