Do you think it would be possible to achieve immortality, i.e. by transitioning your brain to a computer, then live forever as a machine or even transitioning your consciousness to a different body. Do you think this is feasible in the future, if so when?
Why would I want to live without eating and having sex ?
You can do these w/ pixels.
There is no mention of a display. It could be a Linux OS with just a remote console access
The best part about this post is: “if so, when?”
Entropy is inevitable so nothing can last forever
And I'm iron man 😏
The brain itself is just a biological device driven by electricity.
🤦♂️
What?
Nothing can last forever.
If you can transfer your "consciousness" to a computer, then what happens when you make a duplicate and run them in parallel? Which one is you?
What's not to say that a clone of you is rampaging in a parallel world already or better yet in amazon from another country?
It's very likely that we will build something that to the new host is completely indistinguishable from a continuous line of consciousness from the previous form, but that doesn't actually continue the previous form's (your) consciousness, so is indistinguishable to you from normal death, but that fact would not be observable externally, and would be contradicted by the new host that has every indication that they've had a continuous conscious experience across hosts.
