I am in between offers for a marketing role which I am struggling to pick between and would love any advice YOE 3.5 Amazon - FT role Base 115k TC 130k Pros: benefits Cons: working 3 days on site L5 non manager role PayPal/Venmo - W2 Contract through agency TC 135k Pros: full remote Cons: 6 month contract with opportunity to extend/go FT, no benefits or pto, holiday pay Manager role but no direct reports
You in Canada or Europe? TC’s are very low
OP is not SWE
So what?
yeah - I’m taking amazon, no way hell im doing a 6mos contract for a extra 5k bump and remote. Especially in this economy when it comes extension/conversation time they’d come up with headcount freeze BS well, unless you had to relocate of course
Nobody should pick Amazon for any reason
Manager role with no reports is a red flag !
You will hate your life once in Amazon. Look out for a good therapist.
Venmo hands down
Trying to understand your perspective. On what context is the confusion? Money? Looks similar FT vs contract - I think FT Office vs WFH - Depends if you like hybrid model or remote. If it’s relocation issues, then you need to think about the family relocation + expenses + taxes related to the state etc Benefit is definitely a plus + your health insurance and stuff. Most of us here on blind are SWEs, so can’t say about marketing role specifically. Maybe try to connect with someone on linkedIn to get a better perspective of your roles and stuff.
What are the responsibilities as a marketer in tech? I’d love to know
Venmo if their confident in the opportunity to go FT. The agency is eating up a lot of what would be your $$$. I'm a fan of freedom, so going into an office is a turn off for me personally. TC is pretty good for your yoe.

Women, help me understand why this is inspirational
Would definitely take a FT role over contract unless full remote is a huge plus
