So I have done a few ventures in the past 1. YouTube Channel Got a couple videos over millions of views and grew subscribers to 15k but realized I cannot monetize because I am on h1b visa 2. First venture Started a startup on the side thinking I would somehow figure out visa issue. Got into one of the accelerator programs and got initial 300 users but had to quit because I felt nervous continuing without visa 3. Second venture Started another e-commerce business with my friend's name due to visa. Due to my mistakes, poor market research, I ended up wasting 50k of my savings and had to close down the business 4. Third venture Started another business thinking that if I can get into ycombinator, visa would be figured out. Cofounded with a couple friends, one quit due to personal issue. Talked to 30 investors, spent a year coding, got invited to yc final interview but didnt get funding from anyone. Finally I quit due to stress and it affecting my actual job performance All this happened while I was working as swe full time. This startup I was working for also lied to me about visa and stock options so I left that company after grinding for 3 years. Thankfully I got an interview and offer from Google and started to save only recently. I have only saved 20k so far and I have 5 yoe. Google also has pasued green card after layoff so I have not even filed for perm. I am exhausted, lost hope to get a visa and start my venture independently and legally one day. I have saved so little compared to my peers in silicon valley and feel like I worked my ass off for the last 5 years only to slot back into the rat race with not much saving and without visa. I feel like a huge loser but I keep that to myself to make me feel less miserable.
You have achieved a lot than most of us here. I have a lot of money, but none of your rich experience. You should celebrate this. I haven't even tried, only day dreamed.
I think what I experienced, you can easily get with money and visa if you tried. None of my "rich" experiences are that special
It is.
Dude look at the bright side, people can only dream about such experiences because most of them are afraid to take such risks.
Team up with me - let's try one last time. What do you have to loose? I am a genius at figuring out ways
So, why haven’t you figured out a way yet?
Because he was waiting for OP to come to his life
Looks like you’ve had quite the struggle. If you’re feeling depressed, please keep in mind that most people didn’t even attempt the things you tried. You might have lost money and some time. Most people just blow that money on some car that makes them happy for a few months. As for time, I think you gained experience and some hustle mentality. It will serve you well. Chill for a while and collect your salary while working your 9-5
Don’t live with golden handcuffs. Go back and live your best life. It will all work out
Focus all your effort into getting the EB1A GC. When randos are able to get it you should definitely be able to obtain it.
I wish I could hustle like you! N have the ability to attain such skill level
1. The knowledge and practical work skills you gained is real. 2. The grit you gained is real. Just rest a bit and slow down at Google. During this time, calm down and reformulate your plans. Chill.
I admire your entrepreneurial spirit. You also work at Google. Don’t be too hard on yourself.
