Recruiter mentioned there will be knowledge based questions and CS Fundamentals along with the coding assessment. Can the community please help what to actually expect in the interview? Can you share some examples and how should I prep for them? #instacart #karat
Karat is a hit or miss. My first Karat interview via Roblox was good. The interviewer was knowledgeable and helped me to understand the question better and eventually reach the solution. My second interview via Robinhood was terrible. The first part had system design questions where answers were subjective. I was done with those questions in 20 mins. I had 40 mins to code a very tedious question. At the 50th minute mark, the interviewer told me to stop because according to that person I should be given only 30 mins to solve the question. I did solve the question but got a reject. The feedback was that both sys design and coding interviews were lacking "signals". Oh well 🤷♂️
DM if you have more questions
I had exactly the same experience as yours, lol. The system design part in Karat's interview for Robinhood seems like a quick quiz instead of discussing the scenario. Don't know what they want to test out of it. At the 50th minute mark, the interviewer told me to stop because according to that person I should be given only 30 mins to solve the question. I did solve the question but got a reject. Also same.
Even I have a Karat interview for Compass. Any leads would be helpful!
We do karat interviews?
For Staff and above, yes.
What's the reasoning behind that
Does codesignal interview mean it’s Not Karat interview?
I have the same question
NEVER EVER agree to 3rd party interviewing platforms like Karat or TripleByte. If you are spending time to for a company, they should reciprocate same with you. How they handle it is their problem.
I’ve participated in these 3rd party tools and successfully proceeded to the next level. Nothing felt more superfluous than getting interviewed by 3rd party tools.

My experience was really bad with Karat. A middle aged man showed up asking theoretical CS questions. I just had 15-30 seconds to answer each question. This continued for like 15 mins and then we did a programming question at the end.
Wtf you got against middle aged men? Lol. I've heard karat is rough.
