Insulting google interview experience

I recently interviewed with Google India. I had 5 interviews. All were taken by non indians. 2 of the interviewers were really rude. They were rolling their eyes when I asked some questions. In general, I have seen that interviewers start treating you really bad if you are not giving the answer that is in their mind. Has anyone else faced these issues with Google interviewers lately ?

What question did you ask to which they rolled their eyes? And YOE?

Microsoft dev1785 OP Jan 26, 2021

YOE 7 In 2 of the interviews that I gave, interviewers started getting extremely irritated when I was suggesting the solution. They both rolled their eyes when I asked them to repeat what they said(sometimes accents are hard to understand). One guy shouted at me to not start writing the code when I was just trying to write some psuedocode. The guy who took my system design interview didn't even try to understand the solution I gave and looked extremely disinterested after that

Not all interviewers are same but Google treats it that way. Nothing new

"All were taken by non indian s" ...Were you expecting experience to be different if it was taken by Indians ?

I never had such kind of experience with indian interviewers (I am indian). I have given around 30 interviews(all Indians) in my life. I have failed interviews before but people have never rolled their eyes or mistreated me. This is the first time in my life that I have faced these issues in interviews.

3/4 interviews I did were friendly. 1 of them was a douche

Not sure about the interviewers ...but recruiters are super friendly and can speak technical more than an average sw engineer šŸ˜‚

Microsoft dev1785 OP Jan 26, 2021

I agree with this. Recruiters were super friendly.

Accents can be a big problem during an interview. Helps to write down the question on a shared screen to make sure you are on the same page.

THIS. I felt rude asking him to repeat the question.

Have you stopped to think the problem could be your communication? You are a great person Iā€™m sure but sometimes your communication especially during stress can come off very unclear. In our minds we have perfect clarity but to the outside we can sound like a bus horn.

Microsoft dev1785 OP Jan 26, 2021

Communication can be tricky when you are interviewing over a video call . But the kinds of expressions interviewers were making was pretty insulting. Both of them got angry when the solution was not what was expected. System design guy didn't help at all and kept talking and looking in an insulting tone.

It could very well be all of the interviewers who have a personality issue and they just happen to be on the same loop for the same person. Unfortunately I have seen too many candidates that make me very furious during the interview, some flat out started a debate over Israel being a monster, others were tone deaf and chose to answer questions I didnā€™t ask and wouldnā€™t stop when I politely asked them to. However I stayed calm and tried to end the interview as gracefully as I could

This is surprising and sad at the same time! But sometimes Luck plays a big part so better luck next time
