You have my sympathy. If this guy ends up owning your company, you will have to deal with a flood of random questions, and simplistic solutions about how to eliminate fake accounts, coming from the very top. https://news.yahoo.com/elon-musk-said-team-going-030741506.html
The Twitter board should have grown some balls and prevented this from happening
Why would they? It’s the best for the shareholders if they get bought at that price. Gotta do what’s best for shareholders. That’s the law.
The law is reporting truthful key operating metrics. Incorrectly reporting key operating metrics affects valuation and shareholders can sue
At least now they’ll have some moral integrity
Can't buy at full price? Gotta find some way to low-ball. 😉
No sympathy. Integrity team needs some integrity
I mean it’s not a bad solution - gives a directional figure without needing to mine a huge set of data. What’s a better way to do this without incurring a pretty substantial implementation cost? Also - the article is misleading. He’s taking a random sample of 100 followers against numerous popular accounts, so he’s not just grabbing 100 data points and calling it a day. And honestly - it’s an area of concern, since the entire premise of twitter’s revenue is ad placement. Implied valuation of the company is way higher than it should be if we’re still in the realm of 15% of platform users being bots like they were in 2017, since they won’t be monetizable via ad impressions. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cnet.com/google-amp/news/new-study-says-almost-15-percent-of-twitter-accounts-are-bots/
