My wife was scheduled to talk about her Intel offer details with HR last Friday. But in the morning of last Friday, she got an email from HR saying that there's a hiring freeze at Intel due to COVID-19. What would happen for her case? She's already passed all the interviews, received a congratulations email and ready to go through the offer details, but hasn't seen the official offer letter. Will Intel still honor this verbal offer? How long will this Intel COVID-19 hiring freeze last? #intel #intelcareers
I had a verbal offer last Friday. Supposed to talk about details today, but was told hiring freeze due to coronavirus pandemic. 😭
Which company??
It's an Atlanta startup
Yeah hiring freeze on our side is confirmed. Unfortunately no one knows when it will be lifted, these decisions come from higher ups. At this point, since she is not officially hired yet, she might not get in. But HR should bring her back in once they get the clear. It makes sense for them to keep the offer valid for numbers of months because it is not your wife's fault.
Thanks! I heard from another Blind thread that the hiring freeze at intel is for 2 months. Is it true?
I’m in a pickle because I accepted an offer and while my start date is a little over a month away, I’m afraid to give notice too early in the event my signed offer gets pulled. Can a signed offer get pulled?
It has happened before. Or since it is employment at will, they let you go day 1.
Any updates? I am in the exact same situation as your wife is in that. I also got an email to review offer from intel HR, but it has been delayed so far because of covid19. HR said that they will make a decision around this time, but I have not heard any updates yet.
No updates yet. Did they tell you when should you expect a decision?
It’s already over, and their decision seems to be delayed. I haven’t heard anything yet.
This is unfortunate, but no one can give you eta, not even Intel CEO. A few days earlier and your wife might have been all fine. Ask her to find other jobs and start applying. This rabbit hole is not ending in 3 weeks. Probably several months.
