Intel Hiring Freeze

Any idea when it will thaw?

Intel bloo)&@ Mar 21, 2017

First questions first - why intel ? I had not heard of a hiring freeze.

Intel Stat guru Mar 21, 2017

Not that I know of. My team is hiring aggressively ( non SWE though). And yes- why Intel? Lot of high performers are planning to leave/ have left already. I would have done the same if not for family constraints

I need to go back to the area for family reasons. Are there other decent options there are in the Portland area for low-level C/C++ development?

Intel bad hombre Mar 21, 2017

My group has a hiring freeze. maybe it's not Intel wide freeze.

Intel Thypo Mar 21, 2017

There was a focal related freeze. Then there are freezes per group all the time. Just apply to a different group.

KQCI01 I think intel is the premier tech employer in Portland unless you are willing to consider smaller less well-known companies. It sounds like you want the stability of BigCo though which I certainly understand. You can work for Nike also - I know they have a few scattered tech projects. I'd choose Intel over Nike though-no contest there. Intel OR has the smartest most talented people - you'd probably enjoy working there. I just checked Amazon has a few SDE positions in Portland, while Google and Facebook come up empty. If you can get into Amazon I'd def choose it over intel.
