Benefits include quarterly performance bonus. Any intel people who can shed light on what this is? Also, does intel offer RSUs? If yes, what’s the average for staff programmer?
Intel has two cash bonuses. Quarterly performance bonus, and annual performance bonus. As name suggest one is every quarter other is once in a year. Quarterly bonus is in terms of number of days of salary. Annual bonus is based on a multiplier, based on your grade level. Both are based on company performance not yours. Yes, Intel does provide RSUs. Intel works on grades. Don't know what does staff programmer would correspond to grade.
Basically you get 4 small portions of peanuts during the year (think plane size) and a bigger one (think small pouch) at the beginning of the next year. I think I got about 16k peanuts all in all before taxes. That's on top of the monthly peanuts I get as salary. Now I have a lot of peanuts but still no money. So, OP, if you like peanuts come join us ! If you prefer money look elsewhere.
I forgot to mention the ocasional $50-$100 bonus that you can get as an award from someone you helped or who liked working with you. That's basically one peanut but at least it's offered honestly.
Run!
Go elsewhere if you at all have the option ...
Including spp, rsu, bonus you get roughly ~30% of base extra.
If you are in the Bay area your base will be around 100% below market.
Compensation is low, but work-life balance is great. YMMV.
Work-life balance was past, not anymore.
Its not past, still is.
Fuck Intel. Worst culture. U need to be selfish and bigot to be there.
Did you work there? Is it really that bad?
In my opinion yes.
