When I found out that my department was getting cut significantly, I applied to almost any job that I qualified for as an internal candidate and messaged the hiring managers and recruiters indicating my interest, but never once received any interest in my application. Leadership praised having internal mobility opportunities, but when it came down to it, no one even tried to internally hire. Now months later, I still see openings for those jobs still open. In your experience (not just at Yahoo), has it been incredibly difficult to transfer departments for the same job function and title? #Yahoo TC: 260
Depends on the company and role. Some places it’s pretty easy to switch roles, others it’s risky due to potential retaliation(looking at you, Amazon)

In the pre-covid env, I would knock at the hiring managers door close to the end of the day. Usually, when there is an open role, the hiring manager is the one staying late to get things done. I had tremendous success with it. Now, try it on your corporate messaging system. You must try to bypass the recruiters to get to the hiring manager.
OP already did though
He said he only messaged.
