The job market is absolutely brutal right now
And how pay cuts might affect employees. They’ve also been cracking down on the fun Slack channels. https://twitter.com/zoeschiffer/status/1420149606696898561?s=21
Beginning of Union at big tech: POWER TO THE WORKERS
✊🏿
Wow. Cracking down fun slack channels is shameful. So much for "bring your full self to work" huh?
It's such a weird flex. Surprised Apple HR and/or IT has the bandwidth to police this.
It hasn’t happened... I don’t know of a single channel that has been shut down. Don’t believe everything on Twitter
The Slack channels are still open, just not as broadly. They've removed many workspaces from many of the channels reducing the membership, but I don't know of any that have been completely shut down or removed.
As long as they don’t shut down the investing chat rooms I’m happy. The remote work channel celebrates new outbreaks. Fuck them.
What? You don’t even work here. No one in the group ‘celebrates new outbreaks…’ what are you on?
Yeah I can’t possibly work at Apple and have a Google blind account. That’s physically impossible. They openly have smiley emojis with delta variant news articles. They collectively suck.
I’m loving the PR pressure on Apple in their response to WFH. But no channel has been shut down…that tweet is objectively false.
I don’t understand how paying a fully remote worker based on their location is unfair. Can someone care to explain that argument?
I guess I can understand it both ways.
