Internal transfers

How difficult Is internal transfer within salesforce? How was your experience for the same? Did your current managers cause issues ?

Juniper jca Aug 1, 2018

Internal transfers almost always never end up being good. Everyone I know who has done it ended up quitting in an year or so.

Salesforce leleibh OP Aug 1, 2018

Do you know the reason they quit?

Juniper jca Aug 1, 2018

It depends on why you are transferring. I am not saying it never works but have seen quite a few folks unsatisfied with such moves.

You need to interview for internal transfer. About 3 vs 6 for external candidates. However bar for interviews is same.

Also current manager does not have know till you clear a interview

How about pay hike?? Do you get any increment when you move to a new team?

I transferred. Had a great experience. The company encourages transfer for growth as long as you’ve been in role for a year. No comp change. You can only transfer at same level.

A friend of mine wants me to join salesforce. His team doesn’t have current openings at lead or senior level (which is what I would consider). They have higher levels but I’m not there yet. He suggested to just get in and then transfer. Any team that you guys recommend to start with and then transfer after a year?

A difficulty of internal transfer is that current low-level manager spends a lot of time in finding ways to block. For example, accumulating so-called evidences to show everywhere that you did poorly in communication even if it's known that your technical side is pretty strong. How do deal with this kind of BullShit? getting competitive offers from outside companies seems to be much easier than dealing with this kind of managers. Is it a simple solution to just leave the company, or still make some effort to continue meeting other teams and also talk with ES?
