This is my final internship, so I'm mostly considering them in terms of new grad. All three are pretty great IMO. But I'm having a hard time deciding which one to go with. Which one would open more doors/career growth/$$$? And which one would you pick? And why? #databricks #facebook #stripe #software #tech #intern #internship #career
Choose FB if you do not have a big name on your resume. Otherwise follow your heart
Ah I see, makes sense. Do you think Databricks have similar level of name recognition in the tech industry as Facebook? Thanks!
Databricks has less recognition than FB in technical and non technical world.
Agreed with Amazon. If you know which teams you’d be going into then choose based on which team you liked/interested you. I would personally lean towards Facebook as they’re the largest of the 3 and would stand to have a more structured internship program + mentoring. Can’t go wrong with any of the 3 though
I would do Databricks or Stripe based on your interest between them.
DB > Stripe >>> FB because the first two give you major growth potential & bragging rights while FB gives you the most recognition in the worst ways (notoriety, has been, etc). If however you want the most guaranteed and predictable TC without as much upside potential and the consistency aka borderline boring work @ FB... All 3 are good in their own ways, risks are best with DB/Stripe
+1 Top engineers from Google/Facebook are joining DB in droves. Stupid to think Facebook has better brand. That would only matter to people that don’t know anything (eg a mom not in tech) who won’t have any impact on your future career.
Stripe has less growth potential for employees than FB thanks to shitty RSU policy. DB is also valued extremely generously.
Definitely not Databricks. Terrible place to work at fyi. Long work hours, few promotions
Promotions may be harder than at FB but what does it matter for an intern. Their mentor will likely be more qualified compared to where titles are overinflated. Team dependent but work hours are likely no longer than at FB or Stripe. True we have our share of problems. I wouldn't write databricks off though out of hand.
When did you interview for FB and what questions were asked in the internship Interview?
You’ll be in good shape regardless. Pick the most interesting work/team and you’ll be fine.
