Currently work at Google as a Java developer on a service that's not that complex. 4 yoe L4 280 tc. WLB is good. I always wanted to try working at a trading firm and part of the motivation is me wanting to move back to East Coast or Chicago. I am good at LC but don't have much experience in C++ or complex system design. I would want to work as a SWE. I understand the basics of markets as I am interested in trading but too dumb to be a quant. Others that have transitioned from FANG to hft what did you study and how was the switch. Was it worth it?
You can work in the back office of a trading firm. That’s what happened with me when I applied. It’s not the most exciting work though . If I were you and want to switch to HFT then just grind C++ and say you are experienced in it when applying
Did you eventually end up moving to front office trading roles ?
