#software #engineering #swe #interview #interviewquestions I have an interview scheduled with M&T bank for the role of Software Engineer. If anyone has interviewed for such roles with them recently or is currently in the process of interviewing, kindly comment on this post. I would like to reach out to you via messages and get some information about the interview process, as I wasn't able to find much online. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.
Far as I knew it was codility. Now idk it's whatever they interviewer feels like picking usually some shit from Leetcode commons. Don't message me. There is t a list but that bank is hurting for people because everyone quits cause it's not worth it.
Why did everyone quit?
See my comment below.
Id start with total comp
Do NOT work there for the love of God. I'm in the process of getting out.
They are chasing engineers with the TC. Iโve seen they are offering over 200k for Software Engineers. And the job can be stable in these economic situations. So why not?
It is career suicide. The money is not worth it. You work with "software engineers" who can't write hello world in a language of their choice. You are forced to work with them on tickets and your work is pointless. It's a culture of no one caring, even the managers. You just exist pointlessly. Now you're forced in 3 days a week where you have to look at that guy who doesn't program talk in a meeting for an hour (you'll have about 5 hours of meetings a day, this is NOT exaggerating, I wish it was) and it'll be fun the first few months but eventually you start to get really annoyed at how much your time is wasted. The tech is so old and you turn into basically a business major. The regulations are so excruciating. You write 100 lines of code and need to justify it on a giant excel sheet of compliance. Getting a VM takes at least 7 excel tabs to fill out and logging onto it is another document to fill out. The virtual PCs they make you develop on have a lag you just have to get used to. This is all just the surface.
Also buffalodev. Is there still random screaming in the office? That was a thing for a while. People just scream at each other or just random I hate this place shit.
Hahahah that's too great I have not heard much screaming ๐. Wouldn't put it past people though. Now that i think, my manager would scream at his manager and that's why he left. To be fair I was at seneca one and no one is in there much including me
I didn't know people were pulling such high comp until I went on here. I went from 70k TC at a previous place to M&T for 120k TC (I asked for 100k TC and they gave me more.) Kinda mad I didn't ask for more
I have been here for a few months. I work about 30 minutes a day, and thatโs just attending standup where non devs complain and blabber on about โprodโ issues. We have a scrum master which is a made up position but they act like they rule with an iron fist (jira isnโt a hard concept). The hardware is outdated. Nobody documents anything. Onboarding new devs is a foreign concept. You are handcuffed at every turn when you try to install anything or use a new tool. The pay is great bc I threw out a high number and they agreed. But itโs not worth it. Doing nothing is not as glamorous as it sounds. This is worse than big head on the roof of Hooli. I have never been more excited to pay back a signing bonus than I am with this company. Oh and the offices are garbage.
Yup hit it pretty close on the head. Except the pay. Pay sucks bruh.
I fucking love it ๐ the Hooli is so funny. they're so down bad lol. Have you seen the app? It sucks so bad. And the PUB conversion? They fucked it up and it's not shocking why to any competent engineer. They manage to make all the wrong decisions and destroy the motivation of their best workers. Have you seen the credentials of the higher managers? They're all fucking CS drop outs to "iT mAnGeMeNt" cause it was too hard for them. M&T needs a structure where it's technical through and through and not ๐คก's telling actual engineers how they need to be bEtTeR tOgEtHeR just so I can hear John talk loudly to IT support cause he can't configure his headset.
What is the technology stack? Are they using any cloud platform?
