Interviewing based on location?

I have been struggling with getting a good remote job offer as a Mid UI/UX designer / Senior Graphic Designer - I have 8+ years of experience in graphic design field and about 3/4 years in UI/UX, I am top rated in upwork and MIR in A.team but I applied to alot of worldwide remote job openings but only interviewed once. I think it is because of my location ( I am based in Egypt) because when I apply to a job in Egypt I get responses almost every time, but when I apply to a remote job in another country I dont get any responses.. can any one help me? Am I doing something wrong? #ui/ux #design

"When i apply to remote job in a other country" That's gonna be tough. HR / recruiter don't understand immigration, they might just reject you thinking you need immigration support. Also, your resume goes through application tracking system first. It can clearly get confused as you needing an immigrant support and might auto deny you.

Is there a way to get passed this? , or should I just stop applying to jobs that's not in my country?.. I was hoping to have a remote job in a good company with a better salary then here in Egypt is this possible or there isn't any truely remote companies and its based on where you are?

Think about it from a hiring manager’s perspective. Why should I hire someone from Egypt when there’s plenty of talent right down the street? Worse if it’s remote. They need a business entity in Egypt to hire you. Also Upwork and graphic design is a negative on a UX resume. That’s what I see on bottom tier UX designer resumes.

Thanks for replying, can I ask you why are upwork and Graphic Design a negative? as I though that Ux designers must have a graphic design experience in order to be able to retouch/edit/refine photos to be used or draw some icons to be used? and almost all the job posting I have seen requires atleast a basic graphic design knowledge/skills

1) UX designers at top tech companies do not edit and retouch photos. No drawing required either. 2) Upwork and freelance activities do not show your ability to make high level strategic decisions, influence stakeholders and ship products within an organisation. Those are what top designers focus on - influence and impact. The actual graphic output is secondary.

For tax reasons companies can only hire full-time employees in countries or states that they have registered as a business with the local governments. So unless that company has a business set up in Egypt, they won't consider you even if you are a remote employee. Now as a contractor, they can hire anywhere because the taxes are on you to figure out. That's why sites like Upwork are okay.
