Investment account + marriage/divorce?
Just our of curiosity… I’m getting married in a few months and I’m looking up whether I should “protect” my Apple RSU’s on eTrade in some way. In California, the presumption is that everything acquired during marriage is community property if I understand correctly, so even if that means salary or bonuses end up on your “own” bank account during the time you’re married. However I can’t find much information on how that works for RSU’s on my own eTrade account. Are they mine the moment they are granted, the moment they vest, the moment I cash them out? How does that work, and what do you advise here?

Rsu vested before your marriage is your personal property, Rsu vested after your marriage is common property.
Not necessarily. In my divorce, I was entitled to stock that vested and was wholly owned by my ex before we were married. There are circumstances that count your time together before marriage. This includes being engaged and living together.
