If you actually have the right GPA and experience then it's the school you went to. I worked in IB for a while and it's disgusting how elitist it is. We turned down scores of qualified applicants only because they didn't go to a GD target school. Hot take: You don't want to work in IB, you want the money and the prestige associated with it. That's true of almost anybody, the work sucks really bad for the first 5-7 years. My advice, play to your strengths. If you're in asset management you have many career paths, many equally profitable, and many who don't give a shit about whether you went to Cornell or Brown. If you still want to do it, work 80 hrs a week, and be the teams beech while you're an analyst the first 3 years... I recommend hitting up people on LinkedIn. Many will refer you just so they have a chance at the referral bonuses.
