I know this question has been asked frequently but timing is the key to my question. How would you invest $100k at this time? Goal: Mid/Long term Risk tolerance: Medium to high *** I’m making this a survey but please comment with details. eg. What kind of stock, Real estate how? UPDATE Jan. 2021 —————————— For the records, I ended up investing in the following: VTI (70% of portfolio) -> 15% profit so far AWAY -> 25% profit JETS -> 21% USRT -> 8% VGT -> 24% IWF -> 14% XLE -> 26% #personalfinance #investments #money
private equity
Please explain. Like investing in a startup?
like equityzen
equity and assets like gold crypto etc. 100k isnt much for real estate depending where you live
Did you mean buying the actual gold bullion or something like Gold ETF? Yes, in the Bay Area it’s pretty much nothing for real estate but I just added the option if there is a way that I’m not aware of.
yeah paper gold and silver like SLV and GLD ..which I guess are stocks
VSTAX
👍🏼 Do you recommend everything in VSTAX or some in high growth some in high dividend (VYM) etc. ?
Read the 3 fund portfolio wiki
Banks and oils
Please explain. Oil how? ETF?
Dividend aristocrats (xom, cvx) and XLE
If your time horizon is 3+ years put some in worthybonds and Fundrise. A portion you can tolerate high risk on can be spread across high potential funds/ETFs like FIVG, ARKK, QQQ. Remainder can goto VTSAX/VTI.
Thanks 🙏🏼 Do you trust those private companies (worry bonds, fundrise) for long term investment? Also, would you consider gold or real estate ETFs too?
They are registered with SEC. Like any other investment they are not FDIC insured but both worthybonds and Fundrise are backed by real collateral (business assets and realestate). Gold is already very high so it depends on your time horizon.
Airlines
Airlines why?
Because trust Trump/Biden to bail them out. For example, American Airlines was trading at 30ish pre-COVID and is 13 today. When things open up, I believe this stock will go to 20 at least. Look at other stocks like this in this sector. Things will normalize and people will rush to buy these stocks when the economies open up. Don't put all your money here, just some of it, perhaps 15 percent. I invested in hotel stocks and entertainment stocks (cinemas) last month and as the lockdown in India is being lifted, made a 35-50% return in 20 days. Booked profits. I see the airline industry in the US has not yet recovered.
BTC, because over 5 years there’s a 25% chance of going to 0, 25% chance of staying around where it is and 50% chance of returning 3000% Numbers are surely off. Main point being the potential reward outweighs the risk by far
Why do you think that? Especially the 50% chance of being... what $300K in 5 years. That sounds like a pipedream. And yes, I see that you said numbers are just guesses but why do you even think the reward outweighs the risk by so much...?
100k would be only ~10 bitcoins. Would you actually take such risk?
Stonks only go up
With your goal and risk tolerance, stocks would be your best bet.
