Investors interested but need technical cofounder/ CTO first
I’m creating a matchmaking app for gamers to find friends, teammates and clans. (But I’m non-technical) I sold membership rewards cards to our existing community. We raised enough funds to outsource the MVP (built with React Native and Firebase). I have a strong core community of a few thousand and have the alpha version of the app ready to launch. Our CMO is a viral marketing expert who spearheaded TikTok’s global expansion in 2019 and 2020. And I’m the CEO with experience at a YC startup doing product marketing & customer success as their first hire. I went to pitch angels & VCs, and they’re all interested but want me to find a technical cofounder first. 👉 Where can I find one? I’ve already tried YC matchmaking, developer Discord channels and Twitter searches. 👉 And how do I ask given I cannot provide a salary until we raise seed? Investors are quite literally on standby and we have hundreds more to reach out to. Equity would likely be split 33/33/33 even though we already have MVP. #tech #startup #cto #founder

Wow 2 marketing folks starting a company, though I suppose AirBnB had non-technical founders too. Anyone if your community can be a principal engineer or something? Maybe go to the game conventions and see if you can lure someone from the game tech industry? Or look for some of the ex-Google/Stadia group, they got hit hard and may be looking

Do you have funds to hire just any tech guy? Make him “CTO” with salary only and get your funding.
No funds at the moment. But we also want a technical cofounder with equal equity in general. Otherwise they won’t have the same motivation and skin in the game.
