Is Amazon negotiating comp right now?

Weighing an offer from Amazon and while I wouldn’t take the offer as it stands, I’d take it with some considerable upward movement. I don’t have competing offers. Is Amazon negotiating in the current environment, or because there are few roles open and still lots of hiring freezes around, are they more likely to say take it or leave it?

What's the worst that can happen? Ask and they either say yes or no

Negotiation is always possible, depends on how much leverage you have

TC or GTFO

Put numbers in your post else gtfo.

Tell them what it would take to get you to join. Also, use your current TC to negotiate, but doesn't look like you have TC

Everyone can negotiate comp, just have a backbone.

I didn't have any competing offers either. When the recruiter gives you the numbers respond this way when you are disappointed (because they always try to lowball first): "Oh. Seriously? Shoot. Wow. I am surprised and not in a good way. This won't work for me." What happens next will tell you if you are a high incline to hire or just barely passed. If the recruiter says "what will it take?" Then you know you are a high incline. Ask for some astronomical amount and let the recruiter explain the breakdown of comp to see where you can get the most. Decide on what you want for TC then try to max out base. Then ask for more RSUs. The signon will be determined after you get the base and RSUs locked in, since they use a four year comp formula. However, if the recruiter says, "This is the offer, it is competitive and there is very little wiggle room." Or worse if they say "There is no wiggle room.", then you know you barely got approved to receive an offer. Ask for a breakdown of the comp and see if you can get base and RSU increased a bit. Either way, the recruiter will only be authorized to negotiate within a range. If you are trying to go above that, then you need to wait for the recruiter to talk to the HM who may need to get approval to increase beyond their decided amount.
