Left over a year ago. Before all the “best employer” thing started. Question for current Amazonians — is Amazon still as shitty as it was a year ago? Shitty: -Overworked and overworking is glorified -Low pay for non tech roles compared to other tech companies -Everyone always talks about levels… people refer to others by their level (eg, “I met with their L7 and she said…”; “there were 3 L8s in that meeting!”) -People are literally obsessed with promos -Crazy and non-productive competition, esp. with Indian teammates, who can use Amazon as a way to move overseas (and I completely get that) -Hiring non skilled people because managers are building empires and need to hire quickly -Shitty perks -Metrics everywhere… even where you can hardly quantify anything -No culture (except for overworking and efficiency, i.e. chasing metrics)

"WHY THE HELL HASN'T THIS PROGRAM BEEN STARTED YET!?!? IT'S SO IMPORTANT WTF!???"

Lol, man, that is painfully familiar. I can't tell you many times my L8 kept deprioritizing the ML metrics work that was critical to measuring success for all the other stuff we were building. Result was chaos.

Yup..still the same. I suspect might be even worse for the non-tech folks once they realize the recent base increase was a farce for most people
