All Facebook problems are on leetcode. I interviewed at Facebook earlier and literally every question are exactly the same as leetcode. Since all questions are public, is the Facebook bar about memorizing the solution, not how to solve new problems?
Yeah, but you should still clarify the question and verbalize your thought process before spitting out an optimal solution.
I feel like this is purposeful design by fb and their algo interviews focus on testing: - did you do the basic prep work (lc) showing that you care enough for this - how well can you communicate complex logic/code - how well can you work with others and incorporate feedback Basically I think they do this to “optimize” for checking soft skills
That's kind, but really it's the interviewers being lazy. Once you're an interviewer you're never reevaluated. Questions rarely get removed from the bank even though theyre the top ones for fb on leet code.
Do you realize that there are more than 600 Facebook tagged questions on LC?
Yeah but they’re sorted by frequency, pretty reasonable to do top 25 and your chances are good
Well if you can memorize most of the solutions, you should be smart enough to do the work at Facebook.
Heartily disagree. If you can memorize most of the solutions, it shows you are good at memorizing, not at being an engineer
What if you memorize how to be an engineer?
Yeah I used to think that's bad. But consider this - you solve 4 - 9 questions in screen + onsites. You have to do well on most of them. If you have memorized so well / practiced so much, your coding skills would not be a problem.
Exactly
That’s how it would seem, yeah.
