Is Facebook good for people married with kids?
Facebookers, need your unbiased opinion. Do you see lots of people married with kids work at FB who are able to manage work-life? Reading some blind reviews, tells a horrific story of an aggressive culture (people pipped 6 months after joining), no wlb (people quit 6 months after joining), not family friendly, all single college grads competing who checks in more code. I fail to believe this is true and I tend to feel blind community is skewed. Please share your thoughts.
That's true. I declined their offer for the same reason.
Why did you interview if you knew the reputation? Just being curious? Or is it something that came through during the interviews?

Married with kids, husband also at fb. We do ok, work 8 hours each day. May not get crazy good ratings that often any more, but not bad either. It would be the same in any other company because we are both much more tired and have different priotities now. Benefits: 4 months parental leave (both parents) 3k baby cash 3k (or so) day care per year 5k Fsa
Are those benefits provided by FB or typical like most companies where it’s employee contribution? Are you in California or Seattle?
Only the 3k money thing is special to Facebook.
You can do it as long as your commute is within 30 minutes or so. It’s starting to age, but most people still won’t understand why you need to join your kids school play... forget about volunteering at their schools or coaching their sports teams. Unless you find a manager and teammates in their late 30s or join their ex-Microsoft club in Seattle :-)
We have a kid and we do fine. It’s much better than a previous company which is known for its WLB. I agree that this depends on so many other factors like culture fit with the team and company , commute time and routine of your family members etc .
All depends on commute. I work 10 hours a day but 2 of that is on a shuttle.
100% depends on the team. If you make sure you prioritize the work-life balance of the teams you’re looking at in bootcamp, you should be fine.

How do you access the wlb of the team? Do you just ask how much they work?
