Is Facebook hiring in Menlo Park or am I getting scammed?
I talked to a recruiter last week who said that Facebook isn’t hiring for SWE in Menlo Park. But that they are hiring in Seattle and can even move me straight to onsite if I don’t wait for a spot to open up in Menlo and just go for it in Seattle. Online I see positions for Menlo Park. Are they full of shit? And how would I deal with this if they are?

Haha no. Because they’ve hired too many juniors and are only hiring 5+ for now.

Facebook has put a freeze on hiring E3/E4 engineers and will hire E5 and above only if they don’t need visa sponsorship (h1b transfer is ok) due to all the H1b hassles happening right now (like PP getting suspended, having to relocate if employees don’t get through lottery etc). The only entry level engineers they’re hiring are only past interns who’re joining full-time.
Unfortunately, this is a recent change and hence some people already in the process are getting ghosted or having their interviews cancelled.
Does it apply to Seattle office?
