Is Facebook still sponsoring green cards / extending H1Bs?

Could someone from Facebook share a summary on the current status of their ability to sponsor green cards? I have seen some posts saying it's suspended? I am on H1B, already have an I-140 approved but will have to wait for years for my priority date to be current (you can guess my nationality), and afaik, would need to get a new I-140 through FB if I were to switch jobs. The inability of an employer to sponsor a green card is a deal breaker for me. Are they not hiring even H1Bs at this point? #workvisa

You have two issues: 1. Green card 2. Extension of H1 FB's PERM issue might take a year or two to be resolved. A year or two won't make a difference to your 20yr or 30yr wait time for GC. But would it affect your H1B renewal? That's the thing you need to check

I’m familiar with PERM but what’s the issue that FB has right now? They getting audited?

Edited to call out that both of these are questions. Don't you need an I-140 for new H1Bs after 6 years?

“would need to get a new I-140 through FB if I were to switch jobs.” - I believe that once you have I-140 approved for more than 180 days from an employer A, you are allowed to switch multiple jobs (A -> B -> C …) as long as you maintain valid status. Not a legal opinion.. just from what I read.

Still need a new I140 from new employer to file 485. Which in this case might take a significant amount of years .

Yes of course.. but that comes into play when your priority date comes closer to the current date .. correct?

You just need an approved i140 to extend H1b. Could be a previous company. Doesn’t necessarily have to be the present company. You would need an approved i140 from new company when filing i485 though, but for most Indians that’s far off.

Interesting. That's good to know. So sounds like the only ones impacted are those without an I-140 from a previous employer.

From what I understand you can't keep doing this indefinitely. At some point you do need the new employer to file a i140.

Just heard about the FB Perm issue. I'm in similar boat. Have my phone interview in couple weeks, is it worth interviewing? I have interviews with other companies lined up, not sure if it's worth focusing and prepping for FB atm considering this visa situation. Can anyone provide some advice?

If you have approved I485 and approve I140 for 6 months, would this matter?
