I will be joining FB in next few weeks as E4. I keep seeing post on blind mostly about bad wlb/PIP/Getting fired etc. Is it that bad? What % of employee are in that boat? I have worked in Amazon and Microsoft in past and I don’t think I can get fired at any of these places. Lately I am worried that I will get PIP or will be fired. I am more worried as I am on h1b. Am I worried too much without reason? Current TC:170k FB TC: 270k YOE: 7 Location: Seattle
YOE?
Your yoe please
If Blind is only the source then you are. Blind is used by most people to talk bs, vent out frustration and play victim. IMO, as a user FB is shit, people pretending to have a rosy life, listen only what they want to hear, As a employee it would be great to work in FB. Purely cos of the scale they work with and the challenges they face. On the flip side, very happy to be a amzn customer for years, but will not work as an employee, too much frugality and shitty wlb(have many friends that will support this claim)
Same here. Joining in July. Very concerned about the stress at FB.
Should have asked for e5 with that yoe
MSFT to FB...very different culture. MSFT culture is more like GOOG.
If you are on h1 and are worried about PIP, Join facebook but keep your leetcode skills up to date. You probably can get PIPed there. Also to those mentioning people vent out on blind, it doesn't matter if they are venting or not truth is they cleared interviews and STILL got PIPed so its both an interesting and important data point. I've worked at Amazon and Microsoft used both their blinds and here is my experience Amazon : a lot of posts saying dev listed Pivoted and PIPed Microsoft: barely anyone ever getting PIPed but constantly complaining about low pay. So you pick your poison. I assume fb maybe the same as amazon but with much better pay. Lastly you answer this to yourself Let's assume you get PIPed... Can you crack 1out of 4 interviews based on your lc skills or are you willing to hone that skill. If your answer is yes, join fb else dont. Reasoning, low pay is any single day more desirable than no pay. Hope this helps
Anyone from Facebook wants to add anything?
Fb will be kinda stressful unless you're lucky. Perfomance review anxiety is pretty common, and you'll be lucky if you can maintain 40h/wk. You get an initial reprieve in Bootcamp, make sure you use the time to make friends and develop some connections so you have some other people in the same boat as you to confide in.
Great TC
