Everything seems great with this guy, except basic attraction. What to do? My friends say it’s no big deal
Doing team matching before going to the hiring committee for borderline candidates so as to have a letter of support for them would lead to a gradual decline in the hiring bar since hiring committee is now incentivized to hire someone they wouldn't have hired otherwise. And with a decline in hiring standards, all the great people who have built this company will eventually leave. Google's leadership couldn't possibly be incapable of seeing this. I'm wondering what am I missing?
Nobody from amazon can call Googles hiring bar low lmfao
They have like 25k devs now, doubt the bar can be maintained for that long and at that scale. I personally know a couple of dumbos from msft who made it in recently
I wish I was an MS dumbo :(
Sorry bro, have you blocked. Not sure what you said
Amazon doesn't have a hiring bar lol
Already heard of few people rejecting Google’s offer. Yes hiring bar is lower than in the past and maybe payscale is getting lower as well.
How else will I get high performance reviews?
Your post is misleading. They are doing team matching first because there were tons of candidates who cleared the hiring committee but were unable to find a team to work on where they were interested.
True, team match first is not related to supporting border line candidates, not sure why anyone thinks that. Additional data point on hiring bar; I am a hiring manager working pretty active on getting external folks to interviews and couldn’t get any of my referrals passed on site in three months although I give them all prep materials and they are working on good companies. So I don’t believe it is lower in any ways!
I know so many people who were team matched and didn’t make it past HC lol.
But that’s a better problem to have out of the two !
Yes, every company's hiring bar gets drastically lowered after I get hired. It was unbelievably high right up until after my loop. Back in those days we *really* challenged people. These days it's just simple and we'll hire anyone. (Gripe I've heard at every company I've worked at)
As one comedian said (don’t remember name) : “I don’t want to be member of any club who would take me as a member”
It’s lowering to let you in. Once you’re here, it’ll be high as never before.
Is that why you consider it to be high still?
