At work we have projects in Java and node typescript. We have a new project in the works that will be done in Node instead of Java. When I asked why, they said that Java is dying and all future new projects will be done in Node. Is this really true? I am low YOE so idk. I would hope not because I like Java and am really not a fan of Node/JS/TS. Not at Apple, different company in the Bay Area. Is Java rare in the Bay Area compared to JS/TS? What would you say is the most popular?
rip
Amazon, Salesforce, Google as I know are like 90% java
Google backends are mostly c++. Android and some gsuite apps are in java though

Lol. No. We use TS for Client + Java (server). Java for front end (I meant for web apps) is dead. But java for backends and server is still 🔥🔥
What exactly do you mean, java for front end? And when you refer to java for backend, aren’t you talking about backend of a web application?
lol no, if anything kotlin would be the “replacement” for Java
Java has the same fate as cpp, will never die.
It'll exist, but the language features and dev tools for building and testing things will keep falling behind. JVM based languages may be able to fill the void. Long term it'll probably end up going the way of Flash, Ruby, or PHP. People constantly find ways to innovate and build better software. There's no reason Rust, GoLang, Python or Node wont be powering the current/next generation of server side apps.
Uber is aggressively deprecating Node in favor of Java and Go
Whats the reason for that?
npm sucks donkey b@ll$$
Dynamically typed languages 🤮
Typescript is not dynamically typed
We are talking about JS
