Women, help me understand why this is inspirational
Hi Is Jenkins still heavily used for CI/CD? Is it still preferred over other tools like GitHub Actions, Harness, Circle CI, CodeFresh etc? I am sure most FAANGs don't use it. But there are numerous companies like Apple, Nvidia etc which may use Jenkins. TC: 400k, yoe: 8 #amazon #aws #apple #meta #google #microsoft
if you hear the word Jenkins just run
Why?
Why
Yes sir/madam
The best CI tool out there is Buildkite. GH actions are also usable. Jenkins kind of works, but if you have mid-scale and reproducibility in mind, it’s pretty bad.
We use Jenkins a lot for our CI/CD
we use gitlab CI
We use AskJeeves for pipeline automation on my team.
New projects don't use Jenkins mostly. The legacy projects use Jenkins.
Jenkins is still used at many places, although FAANGs at their scale usually have their own in-house systems. Buildkite is far better than GitHub Actions, CircleCI and there’s considerably less operating expenses when compared to Jenkins.
Though Jenkins quite popular, few organizations I worked used GitHub actions, CircleCI
I’ve used all 3 at the same time and it can become a shitshow
