Is Microsoft antisemitic?
I have tried to have Microsoft match my contributions to a Jewish organization through the Give campaign but have been told that Microsoft does not match contributions to religious organizations. But I noticed on the Give site that Microsoft matches donations to Islamic religious organizations. What Gives?
I’m gonna guess they have different tax statuses. 501(c)(3) vs something else.
It probably depends on whether when the charity registered on Benevity if they identified themselves as a religious org. If they didn't probably noone checked. Match funding policy is they will not match find any religious organisations. It's certainly not racist...
No they aren't ! You could still donate to a religious organization if you can furnish proof that the funds will not be used to benefit only a particular set of people. I know this because I submitted a match request for a Catholic group and my match was approved after I was able to prove that funds were going to be used to benefit everyone
+1 if the organization has a clear way to separate funds to community work (non religious work) they will match. At times things will get categorized incorrectly and get fixed.
+1. Same experience for me. The religious organizations have to prove that they are going to use the funds for non religious tasks.
They are super clear on what the requirements are, almost certainly tax status.

Yup, I specifically know of matches done for disaster relief for "religious" organizations since they provide support all around the world regardless of faith

What was the organization? In both cases? Might not be equivalency here.
I would rather not say specifically. But the Islamic organization is in Seattle and specifically states that they are religious and supporting the adaption of Islam.
