It seems a lot of company and also people are moving to NC. I know the COL is WAY lower than SF/NYC, but from the few DPs I've seen, the comp is massively lower. Anyone seen more DPs on TC offered for top companies in NC? What are the top tech companies in NC? SAS is always up on top list of places to work, but wondering about others Thanks!
If that's the case I'm moving to NC asap
I was assuming Phoenix was next in the line for tech companies.
Cisco and RedHat is HQ'd there Raleigh/Durham. Buddy started at RH and is loving it and old co-worker at Cisco. TC will be lower but Cost of Living is lower compared to SF and Seattle , look at a COL calc/comparison site.
Right I guess I was trying to see just how much lower TC is compared to COL
Guys... WA has no state tax. Living in Seattle is about the same as a low COL city with state tax
LOL no, no it isn't
If state tax is 5%, then for TC 200k is 10k saved. So effectively you get 20+10k cut. That's about $2.5k lost per month moving NC to WA. Rent delta is under $2.5k
Have you ever been to NC?
Then you are perfectly aware how untrue your statement is.
Hope so

MSFT offers roughly a 20k reduction in base vs Seattle comp.
That's it? Damn. Good deal.
Yuep. There was a fairly decent sized MSFT comp spreadsheet going around. I did a regression analysis and found it was fairly consistently ~20k lower. Bonus is percent based everywhere, and stock (other than on hire) doesn’t depend on location.
