Is PM market getting better?

Is PM market getting better ? How long have been looking for a job?

ex-Amazon ohdbdj9 Apr 18

Yes, for those with domain expertise but it still sucks for generalists

Cognizant ZN2KRT Apr 19

It's a same story for all the roles. And for domain expertise also companies are doing selective hiring.

I have domain experience. It is still hard

LinkedIn GrindBeast Apr 18

It's better than last year for domain experts but haven't found any roles paying higher

Adobe qxFy7O Apr 19

Not for generalists yet

I recently joined a startup and realised it's sinking big time. Now I'm planning to go to other offer I had from a unicorn. It's a significant pay cut. Not sure if I should do it or take the risk of staying at this place where I can get kicked anytime. Can anyone help?🥲 This is in India btw

Amazon zunng Apr 19

Sure

Autodesk Par5k3t Apr 19

It sucked so bad that I shifted over to program.

Turing dfghjik89 Apr 19

Program market is better than product? I thought companies were getting rid of TPM?

Google iammoses Apr 19

Must be desperate. Did you get laid off or something?

Hubspot tintin43 Apr 19

No, it's not easy to get calls, even for domain expertise

Yelp DRyI85 Apr 19

Pretty rough still

PwC Vdjw06 Apr 19

There are roles but i think the bar is really high now. Either you’re perfect or you’re not it

Capital One smpmcml Apr 19

Perfect isn't even enough it seems. You gotta have 15 of 10 qualifications, completely blow away the recruiter, then be incredible in the eyes of the hiring manager BUT no so Incredible you make the hiring manager nervous about hiring you. IF you make it past that you have to give them 10-30 hours of free strategy work that blows everyone away. Then and maybe then do you even get to the point where an offer could come.

Motional JediOrder Apr 19

Its just LinkedIn notifications bombarding you with all those colorful jobs and making you feel that there are many jobs. Market is good when hiring team is ready to hire you by understanding your potential. Now it’s just ruthless, hiring managers have many options won’t take much interest to babysit.

PwC Vdjw06 Apr 19

This here is A1. Companies aren’t hiring based of previous experience and potential. They are either looking for well established PMs with 5+ years of experience to do a job for an early career PM. The game is the game and everyone loses. Early career gets no opportunity Established PMs are underpaid and reject offer Hiring manager never gets the best candidate at the end

ServiceNow ZnD8f9 Apr 19

I had a stroke reading this

Intel WBKg38 Apr 19

Yep but only for domain experts. Hence you will see PMs who have anywhere from 5-20 years in a specific domains as opposed to the generalists I wanna go get that $150-200k MBA but also having Bachelors in Liberal Arts type of people.
