I would like to know if Udacity Nanodegree could be helpful for career change? Currently working in the Mechanical Engineering, would like to switch to Data Engineering or AI, so looking out for options to go through.
They give a good idea of where to start and if you manage to get a really good price and doesn’t hurt you to pay for it go for it, just don’t expect to become an ‘expert’. After completing the nano degree work on a project of your own to expand your understanding and experience. Alone they are worthless, using them as a base to know the tools and where to continue afterwards, they are ok
The certificate doesn’t worth anything. I can’t talk about the courses though. But what you need to do is create a portfolio, LinkedIn account and resume. Either self taught or from a bootcamp. There are many free resources like freecodecamp. Do something like this https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.freecodecamp.org/news/how-i-went-from-newbie-to-software-engineer-in-9-months-while-working-full-time-460bd8485847/amp/ Of course your situation would be different including timelines, etc
So many free resources these days.
No
They are good for learning but not worth much on resumes. Try the Stanford AI Graduate Cert
Udacity sucks
Udacity is a bootcamp tho
Not exactly like a normal bootcamp. You don't get they 1:1 help and mentorship that they promise. It falls short in my experience
East or west, udemy is the best
It's actually a quality product. There is a reason it is the most expensive. I started with a Udacity microdegree when they were offering one month free scholarships and doubled my salary over the next 1.5 yrs
No. They are a waste of time.
