I am currently at Amazon. Amazon has paused recruitment postings since Feb/March 2023, and there is no end in sight. My H1B runs out in Sep. 2026. I was wondering if Walmart is still filing PERMs? If yes, is it worth applying without a referral? Thank you! TC: 🥜 YOE: 7 years
You still have 3years almosr. Relax
Yea they are still doing perm processing but I am not sure if they do day 1 gc processing. There are 4 cycles in a year where manager can nominate you for perm/gc processing. Hopefully you can get this aspect clarified before accepting the offer.
Thank you! Also, does the hiring team even look at the applications that come in without a referral? I found a role that was a perfect fit, but my application ended up in the 'Not Proceeding' pile on Workday portal. I suspect ATS might be screening it out.
Do you have any time that you can recapture on H1? Any number of days you have been outside the US, you can extend your H1b visa by that amount. I am in a similar situation, but I have roughly 10 months of time that I can recapture. I am also planning to try to go to any other country (and work remotely briefly) more often till Sep 2026, just to recapture these times. I think if you join soon, along with the recapture times, you should be just fine. Also I believe you can extend your H1b by 1 year if your perm is pending for more than 365 days, which seems to be the case nowadays.
Good point! I do have some time that I could recapture. It's probably only a couple of months, though.
PERM needs to be filed in 2025 Sep and you can get extension. If you can get an offer, imo take it.
Yes Walmart is still filing PERM.
Any more companies that are still filing PERM? Asking for a friend :p
Same situation. Just as an FYI, if you apply now and get an offer in a month, Walmart (or any other company) won’t be able to file your PERM until June/July 2025
Why is that?
Because there are so many qualified domestic candidates
