I like working on technical problems and creating systems. I’m being pushed into doing some PM roles, but they don’t seem too exciting. Is this a career upgrade or just a shift?
I think not if the company has a technical IC track. You may hit a ceiling though. But as PM you mainly deal with people and meetings.
Depends on the company, whether it’s a career upgrade or somewhat of a lateral move. TPM sounds like it would be more appealing to you than regular PM if you were to go that route.
Go TPM route as you maintain your technical route
