Is disney a lowest-severance employer?

Layoff severance: 4 weeks pay 4 weeks medical insurance We have DisneyStreaming, Hulu, ESPN…I thought it was a great place for tech employees. I don’t know if there are other big companies offering lower layoff severance TC 180k

Disney won’t invest a dime into automation. They’re not a tech company.

Disney ElonMolusk Apr 29, 2023

Most teams don't have regression tests. It's ridiculous. I've never worked in any of the FAANGS, but Disney has been the lowest tech company I've ever worked. Most managers don't have an engineering background or came from low tech companies, so they wouldn't know any better. So many trivial things keep breaking in production. One of our Lead Software Engineers never committed a single line of code of his own, ever. I just shut up about it and collect my easy check, while I focus on my side projects.

And you’re here because you can’t be anywhere else better?

Disney tdeqv Apr 29, 2023

everybody is where they are because they cant get somewhere better

That’s not exactly the severance policy because you get more depending on length of tenure and level. But I agree the severance for non-executives and for people here less than ten years sucks.

Disney digita7 Apr 29, 2023

Only VP+ are getting anything decent, and only VP+ with >5yrs tenure. Recent college grads laid off by Salesforce got 6 months pay+benefits ffs. Directors at Disney in their 40’s get a Pat on the back.

It's pretty much like that at all of the companies I've worked at. The lower you are the more they don't care.

Depends if you have WARN act in your state--not exactly severance but you do get paid for sitting around and doing nothing (so use the time to apply for jobs). It is 90 days mandatory in NY and 60 in some other states. Some states do not have this.
