Initial offer 160k tc Countered range from 200-230k Got back to me with 180k tc as final offer. How should i proceed ? Already told recruitor I can take less equity for more base Unicorn company at Bay Area current tc140 4-5 yoe
It's as final as the Java final keyword. There's still ways around it.
It depends. My recruiter came back with $210k as the final number. When I was going to walk to Amazon who dangled $280k, they were able to pull magic. But then again MSFT like to haggle like you're in a fish market, but that's fine because I like to play the game. Nothing is final, but sometimes it is. The other companies (not FAANG) were out at $180-200k TC and couldn't move more.
I am a recruiter and the secret answer is no.
Do you have tips for those of us not familiar with negotiating?
Always be willing to walk away. That's gives you leverage
I think the real question is what funding round and do they have an IPO runway and are they free of ratchets (see the UBC Unicorn Study about that)!
post series D, company still very young (under 5 years) , think more likely to get acquired than Ipo. in that regard - value of stock options only $200k over 4 years of paper money
Depends if you have competing offer
i do but is only similar Tc
It isn’t final until they revoke it. If we really want you, we can get approval.
If you have BATNA, try more. Otherwise more likely to be final.
It is, unless circumstances change, like getting a competing offer.
i told them the lower end of my range already and wont relocate unless, would competing offer still make a difference?
Usually
