Posting on behalf of a friend: My friend is in intel since 10 years and recently got an offer from samsung austin for sr staff engineer role... Is it a good idea to make a career move from intel to samsung ? Pay wise it is more than intel ... but no RSUs at Samsung ... Please advice on the career move ? He has to relocate from portland , or to austin with family
Depends how desperate they are to get out of Intel. Heard things are pretty desperate these days.
People on Blind are 100% against working for Samsung.
Samsung provides good base pay but it never matches the compensation you can earn from RSUs!!!
That’s not much of a factor at intel. Maybe other FAANG ...
Cousin used to work there. Supposedly all your work is passed of as work done by the Korean team
Leaving Intel is almost always a good career move.
if he is Korean yes, if he is non Korean (even Asian but not Korean) the answer is no
Why so much hate against Samsung?
There are so many K-Pop fans around. I thoughts they should enjoy working for Korean companies like Samsung
I think Samsung USA is not the same sweatshop as Samsung Korea unless you're closely working with them it's okay. But obviously there is some Korean slave driving culture and that's true even if you work for a boss or if your skip here is originally from Korea.

What happens when most of your team is Indian?
Austin, yes. Samsung...wouldn’t do it. Laid off an entire team while still hiring just a month before. What does that tell you about the decision making and planning at Samsung.
Agree with this. But, Samsung is a bad idea. Ask your friend to checkout amd or Apple.
