According to this article and things I’ve heard, executives are leaving in droves. What’s going on? Please discuss in comments https://www.cnbc.com/2021/12/23/here-are-facebooks-most-notable-executive-departures-in-2021.html Is it a bad time to join Meta as an engineer?
No idea abt the overall future of the company but rank and file is pretty much unaffected imo
Depends on what you want. They're paying top of the market for good work (unless of course you disagree with the direction of the company), but I imagine it might be a hit having their name on your resume in the future.
That must be why those Google recruiters keep reaching out to me
It is very silly to think having FB on your resume will actually affect anything.
Leadership usually changes when companies change direction. There will be other leadership that will be more content with the goals of the company and that’s better.
Don’t assume all the execs leaving are talented. It’s also some house cleaning
Only 2 execs matter: Mark and John Carmack (not an exec though). Also, a lot of the people in that list were in the company for more than a decade and left to become CEOs.
John Carmack is legit my hero. If he leaves I will contemplate leaving
I left meta recently, in part because of widespread burnout among the rank and file. I don’t think it’s due to execs leaving though, just the negative media cycle against it for the last few years takes a toll.
Leaving execs is a good thing. Allows for more talent to emerge.
