Is it a good time to join OCI
I have an offer from OCI for IC3 remote role. It’s a good pay bump for me and step up in career I’m on H1B visa, with all the layoffs of the twitter, meta, stripe. I’m bit concerned whether to join the new role , I have prepared really hard for last 6 Months and have few on sites scheduled in next few weeks with Microsoft , Nvidea. I also have 5 other offers on hand , those TC are not good as oracle can anyone who is at OCI please help on this career move choice. are there layoffs happening currently at OCI, as I see lot of openings in oracle LinkedIn. also are there any potential layoffs at oracle OCI in next 1/2 years. how is OCI doing in terms of revenue and growth current TC: 120 k new TC : 196 K

It’s hard to predict if there are going to be layoffs again but given the market conditions and interest rates, companies like the idea of shedding people to improve their balance sheets. If you’re confident that you’re a valued member on your current team and you won’t be laid off, I wouldn’t make this move now. Also, OCI is a growing business and we are building new things everyday (varies by team) to capture more market. If you’re working on core products in the platform org, you are relatively better but nobody is invincible. A few things to note, for the minuses, we are going through hiring freeze, reorgs, layoffs (around 200 plus within OCI), more scrutiny on developer productivity, low on cash with the recent acquisition but on the plus side, surprisingly decent stock price, fastest growing cloud provider and not predicting deep cuts given we need to gain more customers and these market conditions are favorable to kill some competition. The worldview is different per team so I would suggest you connect on LinkedIn with the team that’s hiring you and get a sense of things there before you make a decision.

In addition to the above, I would like you think about about skill development. OCI is modern cloud stack very different from traditional / old software development. Not sure what is your current software stack or company but OCI experience brings you closer to FAANG standards/ expectations

Low offer 196k for IC3. I got much better offer as IC2 remote role a year back. Try to negotiate TC.

200 already got chopped today. Oracle and MSFT have an annual layoff party. You want to join…? But take the job. U need exp and whatever job to keep you alive. Just accept it!
