No, I didn't get PIP'd. My org/team/product is a clusterfuck and tons of people are leaving, and I feel undervalued and burnt out. Also, not learning much in terms of technical skills. Problem is I only have 1 YOE before Amazon, and it was not an SDE role (At better company than Amazon, still technical role tangential to SDE). Initially moved to Amazon to pivot. I'm afraid this will set me back like 1-2 years in terms of career progression, and look bad to recruiters/HMs. My goal is to land Google L4 in the next 2-3 years (don't ask me why, and yes, it has to be Google, I have my reasons). Should I just tough it out? Flip side is it should not be too hard for me to get sde2 because of how much responsibility I have (already check all the boxes on promo doc), and I can get visibility more easily on a sinking ship. YOE: 1-2?? TC: 🍌
Why Google?
i want to work in another country before i'm 30 at an american company while maintaining my initial stock grant so google works out the best for that
Given how Amazon treats their employees like garbage and squeezes the last drop of happiness out of them, I would find it understandable if I read on a candidate’s CV that they quit the same day they started working there and would not find it suspicious at all. Life is too short to throw it away for an inhuman place like Amazon.
Sucks
