Is it even worth interviewing as an average engineer right now?

The competition is insane. You have all these top guys who just got laid off from twitter, faang, Lyft, etc… Feels hopeless. Crazy how different the job market is from just six months ago…

What’s your definition of average? There’s hundreds of thousands of engineers hired by FAANG and other top startups (Stripe, Pinterest, Uber, AirBnB, etc). These are average engineers. If you can’t get into any of these companies then you’re below average and it will be difficult in this market.
