Hi All, I've been waiting for onsite interview feedback and there's absolute radio silence from the recruiter even after following up multiple times. This post is for Amazonians to confirm if it's ok to reach out to the Hiring manager over LinkedIn to check on the status. I've couple of offers in hand and I can't put them on hold forever. I did inform this to the recruiter but no response yet.
Not a good idea. If they want you...they will call.
You're safe to message, they should have already made the decision by now and you reaching out doesn't have any impact on the hiring decision. The only factors discussed in the debrief are around your performance and team fit in the actual interview. It's different from every other company I've worked at. You're totally safe reaching out to the HM.
Ok thanks
There's offer too maybe undecided, reaching out like that kills your negotiation hand. It hasn't even been a week and you've been cold-emailing to recruiter and about to reach out to HM over social networking. This is business 101 be professional or don't interview. They might not have even had a debrief yet let alone getting sign off from HR, director.
Again, this is true at most companies but not at Amazon. I've done about 100 Amazon interviews and several as HM. If it's been a full week, OP is safe reaching out over LinkedIn. The debrief happens within 5 days (or they would have notified the candidate) and the Bar Raiser would very quickly shut down any negativity around the candidate having reached out to the HM. There is no sign off from HR, the decision is made in the interview loop whether or not to move forward. If the decision is to move forward, the recruiter will work with the HM on getting an offer together. It's understood that people need to know if they are getting hired or not, it impacts your life decisions. One possibility is that a candidate could be a fit for Amazon but not for a specific role, this is considered a recycle. Recruiting will work with other managers to find a role.
Aha. Thanks! So I just got "recycled".
Nope, just reach out only to the recruiter.
7th business day and still no update from recruiters. Wow!
OP did you eventually hear back from amazon ?
If it's been more than 5 days, it should be okay. Though I would recommend reaching out to one of the other recruiters you've dealt with. Typically you deal with at least 2-3 as you go through the process.
Ok. I'll reach out to the HM on Monday which will be the 7th day. I've actually looped in all the recruiters I dealt with in the follow up email but none of them are responding
That's very odd! But it does happen. 7th business day, correct? You should give a full 5 business days as we have a policy to get back to most candidates in that time. I would recommend not asking the HM if you were approved for the role, but instead thank them for their time and let them know the recruiter hasnt reached out and isn't replying, and that you're just curious of the next step in the process.
