In Eng, yes. There’s also a whole division of the company called Airbnb China that contributes to that
Whole division? Wow such nepotism!
…… it’s a business unit. Localization is very different in China and the market is big enough to justify a separate business unit and a local engineering office.
Dont most tech companies have a bunch?
Yes. Look up software engineer employees at Airbnb using LinkedIn.
The one company they don’t dominate and they freak out 😂
I'm curious, why do you care?
Go give an interview at Alibaba’s Bellevue office to see why a majority Chinese office is a good environment for non-mandarin speakers.
Where doesn’t and why does it matter?
Nothing wrong with Chinese employees % - even LinkedIn seems to be like that , but the difference is Airbnb has lower bar for Chinese engineers and that is where the problem is - whereas LinkedIn keeps bar consistent. There are chinese sites where questions are leaked and I can 100% validate that I got the same questions (obviously i saw that later) (not Chinese , I am a Latino )
Sadly true.
I’d like to strangle a rabbit.
The Seattle office has mostly all Chinese folks. They have nothing to do with Airbnb China division though. Most of them hired directly.
airbnb.com/diversity/belonging 63%+ of their American engineers are Asian
High percentage in terms of engineers or overall? Also, what is "very high"? A majority? A supermajority? Or being higher than peer companies?
