I use C++ daily but find it hard to code quickly in during interviews. Have a Stripe onsite coming up and noticed I have to do some HTTP stuff, which seems annoyingly difficult in C++. Are the questions any easier when done in C++ or are they the same difficulty and I should use Python or JavaScript? Mostly worried because idk the best practices in Python or JavaScript.
Remember that not many teams use C++ at Stripe so upside is not huge there. At Roblox, this would be considered a huge plus though. Use whatever is your strongest PL.
I do my algo interviews in C++ and i took the stripe interview and did it in java. And im so glad that i did it in java. As you pointed out, http is annoying in c++, so dont use it. You dont need to show best practices that much tbh.
If you're at least reasonably proficient in Python, I'd say go with Python. It's great for interviews; less code to do most things
Absolutely not. Ruby, Python, JavaScript or Java. C++ is an easy way to fail.
Piece of advice, don’t.
I’ll be straight with you. Being most fluent in C++ puts you at a disadvantage in our process. You should use the language you know best. I have seen too many wipe out on bug squash or integration interviews because they chose Python without really knowing it. At the same time C++ is harder. There are many flavors of the language. The libraries are not as standardized so you might spend more time messing with dependencies and getting your IDE to work. Still, I’d use the language you are most familiar with on a daily basis.

You should use what you’re comfortable with.
Depends on the task at hand.
C++ is fine in this round because of modern `auto`.
