It used to feel like with meta on your resume, you could get interviews anywhere in tech or finance. In todays world, is it still more valuable on your resume than companies like Atlassian, Salesforce, Coinbase? I'm interested in potentially working in finance companies like two sigma or Bloomberg or HRT and I think meta is seen really favorably. But I think some of the other options might be less stressful, and I would rather take them if meta doesn't provide additional resume value. Yes I understand that how it looks on resume depends on what you're available to achieve and it's not just about the name of the company, but ceterus patibas would Meta be better for me?
Meta is the best. Perfect balance of prestige and hard work, unfortunately googlers have a reputation for rest and vest.
Would it be easier to land interviews at companies like 2sigma if I'm able to do well at Meta?
You don’t need meta to get an interview at 2sigma, it’s not that hard
Tier 0 are HFT and the like Tier 1 includes Meta,Google,… Tiers are all perceived prestige and doesn’t mean jack about your skill as an engineer
If you're able to survive at meta or at HFT than it means something about your skill right
Surviving - not so much. Thriving - yes.
Compared to Atlassian Salesforce Coinbase, Meta beats them up
Maybe a bit useful at getting interview but doesn’t mean squat if you couldn’t answer the question to the satisfaction of the interviewer
If you have 3+ years at Meta then yes. A lot of people r PIPed before 3 years mark
Meta is still top tier but it was literally never the best. Google has always been better than Meta although I’m not sure that Google is the best either
What about compared to companies like Salesforce, Atlassian, coinbase? Will working at Meta open up more doors than working at one of the then?
Probably
