I feel like mobile engineering is a dying art the same way desktop app engineering is more or less dead. Nobody wants to download some app for something they could quickly do once or twice a month/year with mobile web. Otherwise there are like 20 apps worth the effort for native mobile dev. So... is it dying or maybe even already dead?
Opposite of dead, apps are king amongst the youths.
seems all traffic is through apps not websites?
is this a troll post? You probably made this post through your phone and you work for a company that is driven by mobile app traffic?
A lot of companies have traffic mainly driven through the app 🤷♂️
I'm watching football and wondering like, who the hell downloads an app for their car insurance, or to order fast food? Am I just an old fart?
Everyone.
Yup mobile is dead and desktop is king /s
“I love using mobile websites” - No one, ever
At Vanguard the mobile developers are the only developers allowed to work remotely because they are so hard to find/ in demand.
Very true. These guys are like unicorns or something.
Mobile native has limited demand, except in big tech because startups use react.
Do you mean limit supply of available talent? Because startups are using react native, so when the 90% of startups fail and they look for big tech jobs, the react native skills don’t transfer to native.
Its not a talent issue. With react native you can build cheap and iteratively across both ios and android. Good to build mvp and find product fit. Its a scale and performance issue where they lag native apps
can’t trust an engineer to have business sense. they make posts like this. after thinking about it, they came to such a conclusion. just wtf
So is ML and Deep learning?
